Dr. L. Penny Rosenblum is the owner of Vision for Independence LLC. Her company works on a variety of projects that focus on professional development and/or research. Penny has been a teacher of students with visual impairments for more than 35 years, worked at universities preparing teachers of students with visual impairments and conducting research for more than 25 years, and served as the Director of Research at the American Foundation for the Blind from 2020-2021.
Penny is one of the creators of Project INSPIRE and an author of Learning and Teaching the Nemeth Code within UEB Contexts: A Step-by-Step Guide. She also co-created Tools to Support You in Having a Student with a Visual Impairment in Your K-6 General Education Classroom. She has contributed many resources to Paths to Literacy over the years.
