Melissa Pebly, EdD is an Associate Professor of Practice and serves as a cohort leader for the undergraduate and graduate initial licensure programs in special education. She received her bachelor and master’s degrees from Florida Atlantic University in Exceptional Student Education and her doctorate from Portland State University. Her primary area of interest is in literacy for students with significant disabilities, including those with severe speech and physical disabilities. In addition to teaching courses across programs in the department, Melissa also runs an Inclusive Storytime Program in partnership with the Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS). This program, and an online inclusive graphic novel group, serve as a context for supporting teacher candidates to implement the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) for shared reading and writing in inclusive settings.
