Mary McCarthy
Mary McCarthy was a Teacher of the Visually Impaired who worked at Perkins School for the Blind with elementary age children for many years. She first taught in a classroom and was responsible for all academic subjects. Currently, she is working as a teacher providing individualized instruction to students who need additional support in the areas of reading braille or large print. She is a certified level one instructor of the phonetic based Wilson Reading System. Mary worked with two fellow colleagues along with the Wilson reading team and American Printing House for the Blind to adapt the Wilson Reading System into braille.
