Dr. Nicole Johnson
Nicole Johnson is a professor at Kutztown University. She holds an Educational
Doctorate in Special Education with an emphasis in Dual Sensory Impairments and
an M.Ed in Special Education (Orientation and Mobility) from Texas Tech University.
She earned her B.S.Ed from Kutztown University in Teacher of the Visually
Impaired and Elementary Education. Prior to teaching at Kutztown University,
Dr. Johnson taught students with visual impairments and cognitive disabilities
aged newborn through 21 as a teacher of the visually impaired and orientation and
mobility specialist. Her areas of research include utilizing wait time for students with
disabilities, teaching strategies for students with low incidence disabilities, and Braille
reading rates. Dr. Johnson has presented at both state and national levels on sensory
impairments and has served as President of the National Council of Exceptional
Children Division on Visual Impairment and Deaf-Blindness.
