The KNFB Reader iOS app provides auditory and braille access to text by converting printed text into speech and braille output.  The application allows users to capture pictures of a wide range of printed text, including mail, receipts, class handouts, memos and other documents.


  • Reading modes for books, articles and labels, bills and memos
  • Synchronized text highlighting with speech and braille output
  • Field of view report to assist with aligning the camera relative to the document. 
  • Tilt guidance feature to assist with capturing an accurate picture of a document

  • Ability to import, OCR (optical character recognition), and read image-based pdf and jpg files
  • Export txt and html formatted text files to cloud storage services including Dropbox and Google Drive
  • Batch scan mode to process and read multiple pages

Worth the money~

Love this app! I know it's more expensive than other apps but when compared to larger, more expensive, less portable items with similar functions, it's a steal. A colleague of mine used it to read his menu in a steakhouse with his family. Kurzweil is always a name you can count on!
